Hair, Hair, Hair

Today, I have dared to wash my hair and leave it curly! It is something people tell me to do all the time, but I suffer from that, 'you don't like what you've got' syndrome. I have been straightening my hair since eleven years of age: pulling out and damaging my curls for years.

I can't afford to do this anymore. Mostly because of the damage I'm causing myself, but also because I need to teach myself to like my natural state. I spend an hour a week making my hair straight, so if we add that up... It comes to a total of 480 HOURS spent over the years faffing with my hair.

Now I do believe in spending time on yourself to make you feel better inside and out. I love my hair straight, it's easier to manage and I always feel ready to do something if the opportunity occurs. I used to be blonde too (I know. Horrendous.) So finally, my hair has grown out since then; so here's my chance to make it extremely healthy again.

My aim is to leave my hair naturally curly, until I have something to straighten it for? Like a birthday, event, or just to have a different look. I have tried testers before of the Caviar hair care range, and loved it. I think I got the samples out of a magazine, or hair salon that stocked it. It made my hair super shiny, sleek, and over all healthy. I decided to purchase the full bottles of shampoo and conditioner; however, they can be very expensive. A salon I visited for the products informed me, that they sold their shampoo and conditioner (250 ml) for £35 a bottle... Needless to say, I walked out empty handed. If you know me, I am a money saving geek. Where there is a deal, I'm there! I took to good old Amazon, where I found the same bottles for £39.96 for both shampoo and conditioner. An overall saving of £30.04... Get yours here!

This is what they look like.

The best thing about this shampoo in particular, is that it's sulphate free! If you're wondering what I'm talking about, sulphates give shampoo that, white fluffy soapy feeling? Consequently this makes the hair dry and is commonly known to strip the colour out of our hair. So, stay away from these types of shampoo's, especially if you die your hair: It will counteract with your colour. Despite the shampoo
being sulphate free, I still think it lathers the hair completely! I only use a small amount, and my hair feels better and less dry immediately, when I compare it to my previous shampoo's.

My other tip, which a lot of people stray from because they fear it'll make their hair oily is... Moroccan Oil!

P.s, it smells amazing.

I add this, normally, after styling. Because of the extreme heat I *used to* subject my hair to, it needed as much nourishment after as possible. I do understand, if your hair naturally gets greasy quite quickly, this may not be the best product for you. Why don't you try, on days where you are going no where important, to leave you hair and not wash it? The longer I leave my hair without washing it, the better.

TOP TIPS FOR OILY HAIR

1. Try not to over wash your hair

2. Stop playing with your hair!!!

3. Check your hair brush... Brushing your hair with a brush filled with old hair, might not seem too big of an offence, but it is! You end up transferring old grease onto fresh hair strands.

TOP TIPS FOR DRY HAIR

1. Make sure you are using nourishing, not sulphate stripping products. (Like the one above.)

2. Get those vitamins in!

3. Use a leave in conditioner. This won't be for you, if you have straight hair, as I think it can make your hair look flat and a little bit wet. If you have straight hair, use an oil once you've styled it.

I'm excited to see how long I will last with my hair naturally curly, but 2018 is about being more at peace with mind, body, and soul.
